Winslet campaigned for many years and constantly received rejections, but she finally achieved her goal, and as a result the film turned out to be quite good, sometimes very good.

Winslet’s performance as Lee Miller is excellent, and although initially the film meanders through Miller’s career in the early stages of the war, later, as she becomes more involved, it’s a much better film, often moving, insightful and even powerful.
