Struggling actors Sam and Mark find solace in their isolation as they stage Hamlet in Grand Theft Auto Online (2022) and battle the griefers as they reconnect through William Shakespeare. industry.
Two forty-somethings who have dealt with this situation and shot as many people as possible online
One salvation from this was "Grand Theft Auto" and here we meet actors for hire Sam Crane and Mark Oosterveen. The former lives with Pinny and has a couple of children, the latter lives alone and struggles to find motivation.
One day while playing the game, they find an outdoor auditorium and come up with the idea of performing Hamlet there
They quickly realize that standing on stage to single out the best Bard characters will only get their characters shot, and then two people won’t be able to play all the roles – so they embark on a project to recruit other players to fill the roles . Now these men are introduced to some serious would-be Thespians, some people who think he wrote Harry Potter, and some generally eclectic actors, who all decide that it can be done after all.
Can they do it?
I’m not sure Shakespeare ever imagined his play being performed using warplanes or giant flying machines, and the actors are in real danger (although I’m sure we’ve all seen plays on stage where that could have been useful!), but As both men start to get more and more involved in the mission, it becomes equally compelling to watch. How does their obsession affect their “real” lives?
As you’d expect, it’s a quick affair, and I thought it was worth the hour and a half
I’ve never played GTA in my life, so I was a little worried that my ignorance of the game might affect my enjoyment. It wasn’t at all, in fact it turned out to be quite a fun template for their script, as the mix of characters they met made it pretty clear that these men weren’t the only ones moving around in a closed world.
